Lumia 1320 Landing in UK Feb 24

February 17th, 2014 by Mark J

Despite being launched back in October 2013 and available in other countries for a while it has taken Nokia’s latest phablet, the 1320, quite a while to reach the UK. But now Nokia has blessed the affordable device with a release date, confirming that it will in fact be arriving on our shores Feb 24. That’s only a week away and pre-orders have already begun.

Although the handset is old news over here now it’s still worth checking out and is going to be more affordable than Nokia’s other 6” Lumia the 1520. In an effort to make it as cheap as possible the screen resolution has been downgraded from the 1920×1080 full HD one of its premium counterpart to a mere 1280×720.

Beneath that large, if lower resolution, screen lies a dual-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. On the back of the handset there’s a 5mp camera, joined by a 0.3mp on the front. In the battery department there’s 3,400mAh of juice which is said to deliver about 20 hours of 3G talk time.

The 1520 on the other hand had a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a 20mp PureView camera. It also costs about £400 SIM-free.

If you like big amounts of internal storage with your big screen then Nokia has been kind enough to include a microSD card slot allowing users to expand the minimal 8GB built-in by up to 64GB. If that still isn’t enough then there’s some cloudy overspill in the form of Microsoft’s One Drive.

While it doesn’t boast the most impressive specs it’s an important addition to the Lumia line-up, expanding the range of different sized handsets that are available in both premium and budget options.

For anyone interest in pre-ordering one the device is available from various retailers online with the phone being offered for free on contracts starting at £21 a month. SIM-free it looks like it’s going to cost around £250.
