Sony wins gamers over with restriction-free pre-owned games

Wednesday, June 12th, 2013

Following all the flack that Sony received over speculation that the PS4 might not support pre-owned games and that it would require an always-on internet connection the company has put minds at rest at E3 this week. It has confirmed that PS4 games will be able to be traded in as normal and that an internet connection is not essential. In doing so it has one-upped Microsoft and its Xbox One with its restrictions on pre-owned games (though not as many as there might have been) and required internet connection. (more…)

The Mayan apocalypse may not have arrived in 2013 for all humanity but for the hardcore console gamers out there it might feel like the beginning of the end. The console itself remains an anonymous entity. There are plenty of details to chew over though and whatever happens the PS4 is guaranteed to be a powerful piece of kit. (more…)

Ever since the birth of the smartphone handheld console doomsayers have been prophesying the end of devices like Nintendo’s 3DS and Sony’s PS Vita. While those devices are still very much alive and kicking the latest generation of handheld consoles have been born into tough times and there’s little doubt that they’re not quite as popular as they once were. However, there’s no escaping the fact that you will always pay more for the latest technology. Inevitably, prices do come down, but, in the interim, the itch to own the latest gadget right now doesn’t go away. (more…)
