Make bank payments on the move with your iPhone & iPod

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Picture of iPhone 4First Direct has launched a free banking app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. While it’s not the first of its kind as far as banking apps for iPhone users go, it could be the most useful one yet.

The app can be used by First Direct customers who have enabled internet banking and will let you make payments to current payees, check your balances, view the most recent transactions and also transfer cash between accounts. Other current iPhone banking apps from the Royal Bank of Scotland and NatWest only allow a user to view their balance – not much use when you need to make a quick payment on the move. The First Direct app is therefore a welcome leap forward.

Unfortunately more advanced online banking features such as creating payments to new recipients, will still require the use of more conventional hardware such as a PC or laptop. You can download the First Direct app from iTunes now.

And so bearing this in mind, a new book has been released which explains how we now mould our perception of others based on the tech of their choice.
