Apple Products Top List of Unwanted Gifts, Teens of Ungrateful Recipients

Ok so maybe the last part of that headline isn’t true but the first part certainly seems to be – this year Apple was the retailer with the most searched for returns policy on Christmas Day. The news comes from Experian Marketing Services (via The Telgraph) which believes that confusion could be to blame for the high volume of googling by people who are not happy with the Apple product that Santa put in their stocking. Whatever Happened To The iPod?

iPod FamilyDo you remember that multimedia device for playing tunes and video Apple brought out many moons ago? We wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t, since the last updates to Apple’s legendary iPod ranges happened way back in the first quarter of 2011 with the release of the Shuffle 4G, the Nano 6G and the Touch 4G. iPod sales as a percentage of Apple’s total revenue have shrunk from 55.5% in 2006 to just 8.3% in 2010. And that’s a very telling statistic, especially when you consider Apple usually updates its devices every six months or so. (more…)

Dollar and Pound next to one anotherEver noticed how when an American gadget manufacturer launches a new product, they seem to use a different exchange rate from the rest of the world by the time the product reaches good old blighty? And no, you’re not getting a better deal! It always favours the yank supplier. The product might appear to be cheaper in the UK once it’s been converted to pounds sterling, but if you do the figures, you might be in for a shock. After all, at $1 = 60 – 65p, there’s 35 – 40% difference between the value of sterling compared to the US dollar. (more…)
