Rumours Suggest iPhone 6 is Going Solar

Monday, January 27th, 2014

Normally rumours about the next iPhone aren’t that interesting, falling into the category of either bigger, better, faster or stronger, but there’s one whisper surrounding the next version of Apple’s handset that stands out from the rest. According to Apple watcher Matt Margolis, who has compiled a list of evidence to support his claims, the iPhone 6 might be able to collect solar energy through its screen. A little bit like the solar powered calculators of old. (more…)

UK Turns its Nose Up at Cheaper iPhone

Monday, December 2nd, 2013

While one of the criticisms often aimed at the iPhone 5C is that it wasn’t cheap enough it seems that price doesn’t matter to a lot of Apple fans, at least to those in the UK. Recent figures have revealed how the iPhone 5S is outselling its more affordable and colourful counterpart at a rate of three to one. Clearly bright colours and lower price tags might work for some phone-makers but not for Apple. (more…)

Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013

There’s usually a brief period after each new iOS update is released, and after people finally get their new hands on the new iPhone, that all the bugs that weren’t worked out before they hit the market become apparent. It seems this year’s antennagate, or Apple Maps fiasco is another biggun. The new UI with its parallax effect is making Apple users feel sick. (more…)

No matter how secure a company claims its latest technology is you can always rely on hackers to prove them wrong in a short space of time. Even if (or perhaps especially if) that company is Apple. Fingerprint scanning is hi-tech stuff and you’d think it would take a little longer to beat than your average lockscreen but a Germany-based band of hackers, the Chaos Computer Club, have cracked Apple’s latest innovation in just a weekend. iPad and iPhone Headed for Potential Growth Spurt

Monday, July 22nd, 2013

When Apple revealed the iPhone 5 it was the first time that the company seemed to be following a trend rather than setting one. Asian suppliers are the source of the rumour and claim that Apple is testing larger versions of both the iPad and the iPhone. (more…)

Apple goes flat, iOS 7 ditches Skeuomorphism

Monday, June 17th, 2013

Last week saw Apple unveil its new Mac Pro, creating much discussion (and mockery) in its wake, but the revelation from the last seven days that is going to really affect the majority of the company’s fans is the makeover that iOS has gotten. iOS 7 has been revealed and it’s as flat as a 17th century globe. While it’s a significant change for Apple it’s not quite innovation, following Windows Phone’s trend-setting simple design language and ending up looking more like Android. (more…)

New pics of iPhone with edge-to-edge display look edgy

Wednesday, May 15th, 2013

Rumours of an edge-to-edge display for the iPhone have been doing the rounds for years but if the latest iPhone 6 concepts to hit the web are anything to go by then 2013 might see it finally make its way to Apple’s handset. This would mean an optimum amount of display area without having to make the phone any bigger. Perhaps more importantly it would be the first truly innovative move from Apple in a while, following the underwhelming unsurprisingness of the iPhone 5. (more…)
