Friday, November 29th, 2013

Anyone who has ever bought a memory card for their camera will know how ridiculously cheap flash storage is. Yet for someone reason we don’t seem to blink an eye when we pay the extra tens of pounds to get the latest tablet with a bit of extra memory. A recent report from Which? has looked into just how much we’re overpaying for the internal storage in our devices and the results are quite shocking. (more…)

Wednesday, November 27th, 2013

Love it, hate it, or possess indifferent feelings towards it there’s no denying that Windows is a bit all over the place at the moment. When Microsoft decided to create a mobile operating system that was actually any good (unlike Windows Mobile) it actually did create something that was good, albeit not very popular. This signified a fork in the road for Microsoft’s operating systems, leaving the resulting trio of variations feeling a bit lost. However there have been hints recently that Microsoft is going to reunite its wandering versions of Windows. (more…)

This record-breaking milestone, for Microsoft, was announced not long after Sony’s boast that it had done the same amount of business following the PS4’s release in the US and Canada. Motorola’s output since it was taken over by Google, and for sometime before that, hasn’t exactly rocked the world of smartphones but things might be about to change. Last week the Moto G was officially revealed to the world, an affordable low-end handset which is packing some specs which would have been considered high-end only a year ago. (more…)

What’s that Skip? Your iPad exploded!

Friday, November 15th, 2013

Now and again a story will emerge of some piece of gadgetry, usually a smartphone, which has decided to spontaneously combust. Although not entirely implausible these stories are usually difficult to prove and flukes if there is a grain of truth to them. Another tale of explosive electronics has appeared this week, and comes from a Vodafone store in the land of Oz. (more…)

It isn’t very often that things get delivered ahead of schedule, especially not next gen consoles. However over the weekend it seems US retailer Target got a bit ahead of itself as it shipped a number of Xbox Ones fourteen days early, the US and UK release date is November 22. (more…)

Friday, November 8th, 2013

New smartphone makers and their devices don’t come along everyday but this week has seen a new competitor enter an already crowded marketplace. The company is called Kazam, and was founded earlier this year by two former HTC employees – Michael Combe and James Atkins. The name may sound like a sound effect from the campy 1960s Batman TV series but Kazam is serious in its attentions of making a name for itself, announcing no less than six handsets. (more…)
