So let’s delve into Santa’s Gadget sack and speculate on what should be powering his sleigh ride experience this Christmas Eve/Christmas Day…

Could new quad-core chip make high-end handsets more affordable?

Wednesday, December 19th, 2012

Lusting after the latest high-end smartphone hardware but the moths in your wallet just squeak “no!” ? I know mine do. But thanks to chip maker MediaTek it seems as if impressive flagship devices from the major manufacturers such as Samsung may be a lot cheaper in the future than they are now. Samsung Galaxy Note III may break the 6” barrier

Monday, December 17th, 2012

People scoffed when the original Galaxy Note was released and the phrase “phablet” was coined. There’s already been confirmation of a 6.1” device from Huawei, but the Galaxy-maker may be going one step further by creating a phablet with a 6.3” display. If it can even be called a phablet any more. (more…)

Monday, December 10th, 2012

Ok, so Apple fans won’t be getting a new iPad announcement in time for Christmas. That much is certain. But it’s not long after the release of the most recent iPad and rumours are already starting to circulate about when we might see the next tablet from the Cupertino crew. Apple is a bit of a wild card these days, breaking with tradition and announcing devices before the usual end of their yearly product cycles, so rumours of an early 2013 release don’t seem so ridiculous. Monday, December 3rd, 2012

A bit of crazy and unexpected Nintendo news broke last week, Canada is getting a Wii Mini and it’s only going to cost $99. What!? While the true greatness of the Wii U remains to be seen there’s no doubting the original Wii has some life left in it and that more than a few people would be happy to pay such a low price for it, which makes it puzzling why Nintendo would release this device exclusively in Canada.
